Academic Year

School Overview

To align explicitly with your focus on the January to December academic year at Mission Bodhoday International (Kadamtala, Howrah), the school structures its learning curriculum, major breaks, and institutional milestones to match the calendar year perfectly.

Here is how the institution layouts its operational framework from start to finish:

Structural Roadmap: January to December

The school splits the twelve-month calendar year into standard thematic periods designed to balance academic load with climatic conditions in West Bengal.

1. The Welcome & Induction Phase (January)

Syllabus Launch: The session kicks off in early January with the distribution of textbooks, student diaries, and class timetables.

Orientation: Teachers conduct baseline assessments to map the students' current learning levels coming out of the winter break.

2. Spring Term & Core Academics (February – April)

Continuous Engagement: This stretch focuses on steady syllabus coverage. Formative evaluation tools (quizzes, project outlines, and reading tests) are standard practice.

Initial Parent Feedback: Before transitioning into the hotter months, a mid-term parent-teacher dialogue is scheduled to track early academic progress.

3. Summer Schedule & Mid-Term Milestone (May – August)

Monsoon & Summer Adaptations: Given the geographical climate of Howrah, the mid-session is heavily influenced by summer recesses.

Half-Yearly Assessments: The return from break leads directly into the mid-term examinations. These comprehensive evaluations measure all topics covered since January and establish the baseline predictive scores for promotion tracking.

4. Festive Block & Practical Labs (September – October)

Activity Integration: Academic coursework is paired with co-curricular tasks, arts, and practical computer sessions in the school's digital lab.

Intermittent Breaks: This period accommodates regional festival schedules (such as Durga Puja) without losing track of the remaining syllabus.

5. Final Revisions & Annual Board Review (November – December)

Syllabus Wrap-up: November is reserved for completing pending topics, lab submissions, and holding intense mock revisions.

Annual Examinations: Conducted in December, these high-stakes finals serve as the culminating component of the calendar session.

Promotion & Closure: The year wraps up in late December with final result declarations, clearing of annual administrative balances, and a brief winter intermission before the subsequent January cycle begins.

Administrative Check: Because Mission Bodhoday International operates as a private, unaided institution in urban Howrah, exact micro-dates for terminal exams or holiday adjustments are declared via localized physical circulars or direct parent notices rather than generalized public boards.

Assessment And Promotion

The Academic & Assessment Timeline

Term 1: Foundation & Initial Evaluation (January – April)

January: Commencement of the new academic session. Distribution of syllabi and baseline evaluation of students.

February – March: Continuous Formative Assessments (FA-1), which consist of unit quizzes, classroom interactions, oral tests, and homework tracking.

April: Compilation of the first periodic report cards. Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTM) are held to flag early learning gaps.

Term 2: Mid-Session & Summative Exams (May – August)

May – June: Focus shifts to project assignments, co-curricular tasks, and computer practical laboratory assessments before and directly following summer recess.

July: Formative Assessment 2 (FA-2) and practical grading take place.

August: Half-Yearly / Mid-Term Summative Examinations (SA-1). This is a critical written assessment evaluating all syllabus components taught from January to August. Report cards for the first half of the year are distributed.

Term 3: Final Consolidation & Promotion Review (September – December)

September – October: Introduction of the remaining syllabus alongside Formative Assessment 3 (FA-3). This period integrates festival breaks with project-based learning submissions.

November: Formative Assessment 4 (FA-4), revision blocks, and mock tests to prepare students for the final evaluations.

December: Annual / Final Summative Examinations (SA-2). This cumulative test evaluates year-long learning.

Year-End Promotion Review (Late December)

Directly following the final exams in mid-to-late December, the school administration and teaching faculty hold an internal review board to authorize student promotions:

Weightage Calculation: Final grades are calculated using a blended percentage of the Formative Assessments (typically 20-30%) and the Summative Exams (typically 70-80%).

Attendance Audit: A mandatory audit ensures the student has met the required 75% annual attendance threshold logged between January and December.

Result Declaration: Final report cards are issued, promotions are finalized, and textbook/uniform distributions begin for the upcoming January cycle.

Regularity Records

School Overview

At Mission Bodhoday International, the Regularity Record is a crucial section maintained in each student’s school diary. Because the academic year follows a clean calendar-year pipeline (January to December), tracking daily presence, punctual arrival, and consistent leaves is critical to maintaining academic eligibility for year-end promotions.

Here is exactly how the school manages and monitors student regularity from January through December:

The Components of the Regularity Record

The student diary includes dedicated grids mapped out month-by-month where parents and class teachers log daily tracking parameters:

Daily Attendance Register: A structural grid spanning from January's opening week to December's final exams. Every day a student is physically present, it is recorded.

Late Attendance Log: If a student arrives after the morning assembly bell, a "Late Slip" or late remark is signed by the gate authority in the diary. Accumulating a specific number of late remarks (usually 3 to 5 in a single term) results in a disciplinary warning or a call to parents.

Absenteeism & Medical Leaves: Whenever a student is absent, the parent must fill out the "Leave Record" section in the diary detailing the exact reason, signed on the day the student rejoins classes.

Term-by-Term Attendance Auditing

Because regular attendance correlates directly with internal assessment performance, regularity records are systematically evaluated at the end of each academic block:

Term 1 Audit (April)

Focus: Tracking early habits.

Action: The school flags chronic latecomers or students who drop below the required attendance line during the cold winter-into-spring transition. Warnings are shared during the Term 1 Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM).

Term 2 Audit (August)

Focus: Mid-session alignment.

Action: Summer recesses and monsoon-related disruptions in Howrah are calculated. The administration reconciles the total working school days from January to August to ensure students remain on target for their mid-term exam clearance.

Term 3 Audit & Final Promotion Check (December)

Focus: Hard minimum compliance.

Action: The final year-long ledger closes. The school tabulates the aggregate attendance from January 1 to the close of December exams.

The Promotion Threshold

The 75% Rule: Under the school's assessment policy, a student must maintain a minimum of 75% overall regularity across the entire January-to-December session.

Failing to meet this standard means the student's regularity record is reviewed by the Principal. Barring verified medical emergencies accompanied by certified doctor notices submitted promptly at the time of illness, a severely deficit regularity record can put a student's year-end promotion to the next class grade on hold.
